Dr. McEnroe practices with Sentara Vascular Specialists. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general and vascular surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. McEnroe has a special interest in venous disorders, and was a recipient of the Sigvaris Award from the American Venous Forum for his contributions in venous research.
Dr. McEnroe received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY, and finished his general surgery residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. In 1988 he completed his vascular research fellowship and clinical vascular fellowship at Tufts, New England Medical Center, in Boston, MA.
Dr. McEnroe sees patients at both our Virginia Beach and Port Warwick III locations.
Dr. Parent’s interests include the management and treatment of varicose veins using minimally invasive treatment techniques. He has co-authored and published numerous vascular disease and vascular surgery articles. Dr. Parent has a special interest in the surgical and medical treatment of complex and cosmetic venous problems. He has 17 years of experience in sclerotherapy and venous surgery.
Dr. Parent received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA, in 1989, after completing his vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Dr. Parent is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general surgery and vascular surgery. He is currently an assistant professor of surgery at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine.
Dr. Parent is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, a registered vascular technologist (RVT), and serves on a number of hospital advisory boards and committees.

Dr. Gensler is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in vascular surgery and general surgery. He specializes in carotid disease as well as minimally invasive intervention for lower extremity and mesenteric arterial occlusive disease. He joined Sentara Vascular Specialists in 2004 and continues to maintain a busy clinical arterial and venous practice.
Dr. Gensler is a native of Carlisle, PA. He received his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and trained in general surgery at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, where he also completed his vascular surgery fellowship. In 1997, Dr. Gensler began practicing general and vascular surgery with Carolina Surgical Care in Elizabeth City, NC. While practicing in Elizabeth City, he served as chief of surgery at Albemarle Hospital, treasurer of the hospital’s medical staff, and medical director of the hospital’s peripheral vascular laboratory.

As a specialist in vascular surgery, Dr. Landis has extensive experience in private practice, clinical and hospital settings. He is the former Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery and Director of the Vascular Laboratory at the Indiana Vascular Institute at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. His clinical interests include endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, carotid disease, and minimally invasive treatment of arterial and venous insufficiency.
Dr. Landis earned his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C., in 1993 after receiving his MS in Physiology at Georgetown in 1989 and his BA at Washington University in St. Louis in 1984. He went on to complete his residency in General Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, in 1999. He then completed a research and clinical fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA, in 2001.

Dr. Shah joined Sentara Vascular Specialists in March 2001 and serves on its board of directors. Dr. Shah is especially interested in the treatment of carotid artery disease and aneurysmal disease using open and endovascular surgical techniques. He is experienced in the placement of FDA-approved aortic endografts and with all types of peripheral endovascular interventions.
Prior to relocating to the Hampton Roads area, he was in private practice for seven years with the Buffalo Medical Group where he held an appointment as an assistant professor of surgery with the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Born in Bombay, India, Dr. Shah lived most of his life in the United States. He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Rochester, and received his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He trained in general and vascular surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo Affiliated Hospitals, where he completed his vascular surgery fellowship in 1993. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general and vascular surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Dr. Ahanchi earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2004 after receiving her bachelor’s degree in integrative and molecular physiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000. She then went on to complete her residency in general surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago at Mt. Sinai Hospital Medical Center and fellowship training in vascular surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School where she was awarded the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery Founders Award.
As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Ahanchi‘s focus is on the diagnosis and management of diseases and conditions that affect the complex system of arteries, veins and capillaries that move blood to and from the heart. She provides patients with quality, comprehensive care using state-of-the-art technology and the most current and innovative vascular procedures available.
Dr. Ahanchi is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the North American Vascular Biology Organization.

Dr. Dexter earned his bachelor’s degree at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH before enrolling in the State University of New York at Syracuse Upstate Medical University where he received his medical degree in 2004. He went on to University of Maryland Medical Center where he completed his general surgery training in 2010. During this time he also completed a one year fellowship in surgical research, publishing in several different subjects. In his last year he served as the administrative chief resident for the department of surgery. Dr. Dexter continued fellowship training in vascular and endovascular surgery at New York University in New York City. During his training he spent time abroad in Shanghai, China learning advanced aortic surgical techniques.
As a published author, he has written and presented on arterial and venous disease at numerous medical conferences across the United States. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Dexter is uniquely trained in the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the vascular system, which includes arteries, veins and lymphatics, and specializes in endovascular surgery, the minimally invasive approach to vascular surgery.
Dr. Dexter is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Peripheral Vascular Surgical Society, the Society of Vascular Surgery and the American Medical Association.

Dawn is from North Carolina. She received an Associate’s degree in Nursing from Mt. San Jacinto College in Menifee, California in 2004, and an Associate of Math and Science in 2002. She has experience in emergency care and family practice prior to working with Sentara Healthcare. Dawn started with the Vein Center of Virginia in March 2011 and has an interest in cosmetic procedures and preventative care.
Dawn enjoys the beach, traveling and spending time with her family. She has been a hockey nurse for two professional hockey teams in Southern Mississippi.
Under the direction of Dr. Parent and Dr. McEnroe, Patti has mastered vein injection techniques and enjoys helping her patients look and feel their best.
Patti is a Virginia native and has lived in the Hampton Roads area all her life. She received her nursing diploma from Riverside Hospital in 1978 and has worked in Intensive Care and Coronary Care. She was also involved in the formation of one of the Peninsula’s first non-invasive vascular labs. She served as the circulating nurse for a plastic surgeon, and is interested in anti-aging, cosmetic procedures.
